‘Navigators’ will help Nevadans find health plans

Nevada Health Link, the state agency charged with implementing the Affordable Care Act, has named eight organizations as navigators and “enrollment assisters” to help people find qualified health plans.

The nonprofit agencies will receive grants to help with the education and enrollment of consumers in insurance plans. Jon Hager, executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange and manager of Nevada Health Link, said the navigators will help people through the enrollment process. The Affordable Care Act requires that people purchase health insurance.

“With the help of navigators and enrollment assisters, health insurance consumers will receive one-on-one, in-person assistance,” he said. “This will help alleviate much of the uncertainty that surrounds the purchase of a qualified health insurance plan.”

The agencies selected are the Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada, Know Your Care, the Children’s Cabinet, Great Basin Primary Care, Consumer Assistance and Resource Enterprise (CARE), East Valley Family Services, the Latin Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation and Richard Allen Community Outreach.
