Obituary: Von E. “Bonnie” Clampitt

Jan. 6, 1926 - June 19, 2013

Von E “Bonnie” Clampitt passed away peacefully at her home in Carson City on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. She was born January 6, 1926 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Hazel Deckert and Ned Thomas. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1943. She was a homemaker and was one of the first counselors at the Caliente Nevada Girls School. After moving to Carson City she and her husband, Dick Mercer were foster parents to numerous area children. Bonnie also worked 23 years for the State of Nevada and retired from the Nevada Industrial Commission. She was a realtor for several years and she later married Chuck Clampitt relocating to California and later to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where she and her husband, Chuck owned several small businesses.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dick Mercer, Chuck Clampitt and granddaughter, Brenda Clampitt Stretch.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Marjean Hooper, Cindy Clampitt, Marilyn Mercer, Debbie McCathern and Linda Petty; sons, Chris McKinnon, Craig Clampitt, and Neal Clampitt; grandchildren, Brett Clampitt, Richard Robinson, Rebel Hooper, Bonnie Rose Jordan Hunter, Rob Hooper, Cody Hooper, Roxanna McCathern and KJ McCathern. Bonnie also had numerous great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, 1281 North Roop St. in Carson City. Guests are invited to a reception following the service at 3001 Baker Dr. in Carson City. In lieu of flowers please an honorarium in Bonnie’s name to the Breast Cancer Research or a charity of your choice.
