Fundraiser is Friday to aid Navarro family

McDonald’s in Minden will host a fundraiser to support Andrea Navarro, who was recently injured in a motorcycle accident, 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Twenty percent of sales will be donated to the Navarro family for medical bills. There will be drawings every half hour.

Service is Saturday for Chaplain Bowers

A funeral service for Chaplain Gary Bowers is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 2211 Mouton Dr.

Summer swim lessons are available

The Carson Aquatic Facility is holding registration for summer swim lessons for children of all ages and abilities beginning July 8.

No water meter mandate set in Lyon County

Lyon County has received numerous phone calls and emails requesting information about Lyon County mandating water meters in the Silver Springs area. Lyon County is not mandating water meters anywhere in Lyon County.

A portion of Silver Springs is served by the Silver Springs Mutual Water Company, a private company, and they are not mandating any water metering outside their service area.

Baby Café group meets biweekly

Baby Café, A Mom’s Network meets 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Women’s Health Institute, 1470 Medical Parkway, Suite 250.

Led by a lactation consultant, the group provides ongoing support to mothers regarding breast feeding and mothering.

First Christian Church Car Show set for July 13

The fourth annual First Christian Church Car Show will be July 13. The fundraiser provides support for Youth ministries at First Christian Church. The event will once again fill the parking lot at Johnny Rockets. Check-in begins at noon, with awards set for 6 p.m.

The Rockin’ Rev, Ken Haskins, will provide the music. After starting with 20 cars in the first year, about 100 cars are expected to participate. For more information on car registration, contact First Christian Church at 883-4836.

‘Freedom Fest’ barbecue is July 18

Carson City Republican Women and the Carson City Republican Central Committee will hold “Freedom Fest 2013” celebration and barbecue at 6 p.m. July 18 at Glen Eagles Restaurant & Lounge, 3700 N. Carson St.

There will be activities for children. The cost is $10 per person.

Bridal fair is planned

The Carson Valley Inn and the Entertainer will sponsor a bridal fair 3-6 p.m. Aug. 4 in the Valley Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn.

The event will offer refreshments, vendors and wedding-related prizes. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with an array of wedding service providers, including stylists, photographers, fashion consultants, florists, musicians and design and decor consultants.
