Carson Tahoe Health has received a three-year renewal of key accreditation for the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

The health care company said the renewal came from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Surveyors awarded seven extra commendations for exceeding industry standards, making the local cancer center the first such unit in Nevada to achieve a gold-level designation, according to the news release.

Annie Millard, manager of Carson Tahoe Cancer Services, said the designation is the highest honor that could be bestowed on such a cancer-treatment program.

The accreditation goes only to centers that voluntarily undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of performance, according to the news release.
