Churchill County Commissioners will hold their second regularly scheduled meeting of March today at 1:15 p.m. at the county administration building chambers, 155 N. Taylor St.
Commissioners will discuss or take action on the following items:
Recognition of county employees for years of service.
Update of current activities, plans or actions related to the Bureau of Land Management’s Carson City District.
Hear an update from Ron Radil, executive director of Western Nevada Development District.
Consider acceptance of the Churchill County Library Service five-year plan for 2013-17.
Consider Planning Commission appointment to fill the unexpired term of Cari Norcutt. Five applications for the position have been received: Mary Anne Bonds, Rick Dentino, Mary Lou Lehman, Anthony “Jay” Peper and Darren Simper.
Consider renewal of the contract between the county and Newlands Water Protective Association for a period extending to Fe. 18, 2015.
To approve a motion for the position of Social Services coordinator from part time to full time effective April 1. The position is currently part-time at a total of 28 hours per week.
Hear an update regarding operations, activities and accomplishments at the Churchill County Senior Center from Director Jamie Lee.
A letter of support to the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents regarding the importance of keeping the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) and the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources (CABNR) independent of one another.
Consider notice of a public meeting for the draft environmental assessment for the proposed addition of training activities and range enhancements at Naval Air Station Fallon, on Training Range Bravo-16. A 30-day public comment period is being held from March 11 through April 11 and a public meeting will also be held on March 26 from 6-8 p.m. in the county commission chambers to provide information and answer questions about the project.
In new business, will consider the filing of a Writ of Mandamus in challenging the California Water Resource Control Board.
Consider approval to amend Resolution 17-09 to establish an audit committee.
Consider approval of intervention by the county in the State Board of Equalization appeals regarding Ormat Brady Hot Springs and Ormat Desert Peak. A hearing has been set for March 25.
