How did these people get elected?

You have to wonder how in the heck some people were elected to public office. Sarah Palin, the darling of the Tea Party, comes

immediately to mind. I don’t think she could pass an eighth grade history test. She claimed to have experience in foreign affairs because she could see Russia from parts of Alaska, and she thought the Queen of England, not the prime minister, was in charge there. Now the Tea Party wants her to run for the Senate.

This one blows my mind. New Hampshire Republican State Rep. Stella Tremblay on May 2 claimed the Boston marathon bombing was faked by the government.

“You could tell just by looking that the so-called victims who supposedly lost limbs were not in shock or in any pain.”

How did this woman ever get elected? She’s certifiable. Reminds me of the “9/11 was an inside job” left-wing nuts.

Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., claims the Obama Administration is buying up all the ammunition and stockpiling it to prevent private citizens from buying bullets for their guns, thereby denying them their Second Amendment rights? He wants a law which would prevent the government from stockpiling more ammunition than did the Bush Administration.

First, Congress would have had to authorize such an expenditure in the military budget, or the Justice Department would have to buy the ammunition for federal law enforcement agencies and it would have had to be approved in their budget by Congress. Did Inhofe check to see who paid for the ammunition? Does he have the foggiest idea how the government works? Someone actually voted for this guy!

I think when all is said and done, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, will hold the record for the most insane or outright dishonest comments made by any representative. This is one of the latest comments from Mr. Cruz:

“Jurisdictions with the strictest gun control laws, almost without exception, have the highest crime rates and the highest murder rates.”

Yeah, if he’s comparing Chicago with Nome, Alaska. This is not true of states. The top 10 least peaceful states are among the states with the least restrictive gun laws. Coincidentally all but two are “red” states.

1. Louisiana, which also has the worst murder rate of 11.2 per every 100,000. 2. Tennessee 3. Nevada 4. Florida 5. Arizona 6. Missouri 7. Texas, Cruz’s home state. 8. Arkansas 9. South Carolina 10. Mississippi.

Among the states with the most restrictive gun laws, California is ranked 18, New York 21, New Jersey 29, Hawaii 32, and Connecticut 34, as least peaceful.

Truth is, gun laws are not the most significant factor when accounting for rates of violence. Poverty and lack of education contribute more to high crime rates. In Texas only 80 percent of its population has graduated high school, the worst rate in the country. Why doesn’t Mr. Cruz concentrate on that? Of the 10 most violent states, Louisiana, Tennessee, Nevada, Arizona, Arkansas and Mississippi are also ranked among the lowest 10 states in average IQ. Among the 10 states with the worst poverty levels in the U.S., you will also find Mississippi,

Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Arizona, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

I would behoove Congress to do what Democrats have always said; Concentrate on education and ending poverty. Obama’s proposal to raise the minimum wage, opposed by every Republican in Congress, would not only deal with poverty, but high crime rates.

A local Tea Partier sent me something several weeks ago implying that people with the highest IQs voted for Mitt Romney. Actually, most of the states with the highest average IQs voted for Obama and most of the states with the lowest average IQs voted for Romney. I needed to get that off my chest.

Bob Davis, a Minnesota radio host, said this to the families of the Sandy Hook victims: “ Deal with it, and don’t force me to lose my liberty, which is a greater tragedy than your loss.” He later added, “I would stand in front of them and tell them to go to hell.” He wasn’t elected, so you’ll just have to tune him out. For the record, they could take away everything I own and lock me up forever if it would prevent the death of any of my children. For Davis to claim that merely being subjected to a background check before buying a gun is worse than someone losing their child is absolutely insane. Haul him away to the state home for gun lunatics.
