Winter Trail Series starts Nov. 23

Ascent Runs is hosting its fifth annual Winter Trail Series, beginning with the Cold Turkey Run on Nov. 23 in Carson City.

The runs continue through March, and each will start at 9 a.m. on a Saturday. The Cold Turkey Run will be at the Prison Hill Recreation Area, starting at the water tower on the hill overlooking Edmonds Drive and Koontz Lane. Distances will be 4 miles and 10 kilometers.

Distances for the runs during the series will vary, depending on trail conditions due to snow or ice.

The cost for the Cold Turkey Run will be $45, which includes a Patagonia long-sleeve T-shirt. The fee will be $20 for each of the other events (T-shirts will not be available).

Other events on the series schedule are Running with Rudolph on Dec. 14, Centennial Slug It Out on Jan. 11, Love Can Be Cold on Feb. 8 and C-Hill, Run Hill, Ice on March 8. Ascent Runs also hosted the Genoa Peak Madathon in August.
