We expect a new and secure entrance at Carson High School will be completed by Jan. 6. All students who are late — arriving after 7:45 a.m. — will need to go through the secure main entrance.
The north entrances, by the big gym, and the south entrances will be locked when the tardy bell rings. All visitors will need to check in at the main entrance and be allowed entrance.
Parents are reminded that school starts at 7:40 a.m., and students will be counted as tardy if they are not in their classes and ready to begin instruction by 7:45. Excessive tardies will result in following the progressive discipline procedures of noon detention, in-school suspension and out-of-school suspension.

BUSINESS SHARKS NEEDED
Carson High business students will present their business plans to potential investors Dec. 16, 18, and 20. You are invited to be a Shark, where you will pretend to have unlimited resources, and ask the students questions to decide whether you would invest in their business.
Business classes have been watching “Shark Tank” and preparing business plans this semester. Come evaluate us. This is going to be the students’ final exam. If you have not watched “Shark Tank,” you should check out an episode before coming; go to www.hulu.com/search?q=shark+tank.

SKI CLUB FUNDRAISER
The film “Ticket To Ride” from Warren Miller Entertainment, put on by the CHS ski team, will be shown at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Carson City Community Center. Tickets will be available at the door. All proceeds to benefit the CHS ski team.
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
This week the Senior Spotlight is on Nick Huffman. Nick has many upper-level classes in his schedule, yet he is still able to maintain a 4.3 weighted grade-point average. He plans to attend UNR, where he will major in English. He hopes to study literature and practice writing.
Nick is unsure of his career path, though he has given much thought to becoming an English professor. Nick plays guitar and drums with other musicians. He enjoys participating in writing activities. His other hobbies include skating, hiking and working on cars. Carson High School is proud of Nick, and we wish him much success in his future.
