Mary Louise Clifford was born on October 6, 1918 in Vitoria, Basque Country, Spain to her parents, Marcelino and Eladia Erquiaga. She left this earthly life in Sparks for her eternal home on September 30, 2013. She came to the United States at the age of two and grew up in Fallon, NV. She graduated from High School in 1937 and attended Beauty School in Reno. Upon graduation from Beauty School she moved to Tonopah, NV where she met and married Reynold C. “Doc” Clifford on June 14, 1941. Three children were born of this union, Susan, Reynold Michael, and Daniel. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, an excellent seamstress, an avid gardener, and a Sunday school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reynold and son, “Mike;” her parents; brothers, Joe and Tony; sisters, Mary, Pilar, and Trini; her grandson, Brian and granddaughter, Laurie. She is survived by her brother, Louie Erquiaga and her sister, Carmen Bell; children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Donations in her memory may be made to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
Her service will be held on Thursday, October 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Reno where she was a parish member and a graveside service will follow at the Fallon Cemetery. Funeral is under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon.
