Obituary: Freda “Joyce” Burger

March 30, 1921 - September 30, 2013

Freda, known as Joyce to friends and family, was born March 30, 1921, in Elma, Washington. She was the oldest of three children of James and Phoebe Moore. She died September 30, 2013 in Carson City at the age of 92.

She married Fred Burger, April 8, 1953 in Pomeroy, Wash., and they later moved to the Carson City area where she did office work and worked for the State of Nevada in the Personnel Department.

Joyce enjoyed doing all types of needlework, oil painting, and building miniature doll houses.

She is survived by her son, Dennis and wife, Ana Lang of Santa Paula, Calif.; daughters, Sharon McPherson of Carson City, and Linda and husband, Pete Featheringill of Carson City, and Pam and husband, John York of Gardnerville; her step-children, Jack and wife, Eileen Burger, Bill and wife, Linda Burger both of Prosser, Wash.; Donna and Bob Petersen of Kennewick, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister; and her husband, Fred in 1982.

There will be a private memorial service in Ventura, Calif.
