A ribbon cutting was held Tuesday at the Churchill County Senior Center to formally open the Aging and Disability Resource Center.

Funding for the new center was made possible by a grant from the Nevada Aging and Disability Service Division.

The center will also offer information subjects such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc.; identification of long-term care possibilities; advocacy of rights, interests and benefits; referral to available services and activities; initiation and monitoring of benefit applications; and follow-up on needed services.

Filling the position of ADRC Specialist at CCSC is Sherri Herringshaw.

Participating in a resource fair held after the ribbon cutting were representatives from Banner Churchill Community Hospital and its auxiliary, Gentiva Home Health, The Homestead, The Medicine Shop, Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, and State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).
