Capitol grass cutters: State officials think it is the correct thing to take a hand in mowing. Judge Leonard came out, threw off his coat and grasped the scythe He made two short strokes and nearly cut Wells Drury’s leg off. Charley Bicknell said he used to cut 10 acres a day, and then he made the clover fly. Hub Parker mowed and cut a swath four feet wide through the flowers and geraniums.

Tar and feathers: Fred Chapman was employed at different ranches in Yolo county and scandalized several single and married women. He returned to Yolo County and commenced his stories again. Last night he was forcibly taken from his hotel by a mob of masked men and given a coat of tar and feathers.

Cigarettes: The Nevada state highway department purchased 1,000 packages of Camel cigarettes from Neil F. Armbrecht, representative of R. J. Reynolds Co. The cigarettes will be sent to men in the services overseas ... Each package will have a sticker which reads “from headquarters highway department, Carson City, Nevada.”
