Doug was born and raised in La Cañada, California on September 29, 1940 to Lillian and Weston Kreck. He passed peacefully and unexpectedly in his home on September 15, 2013.

Following graduation from high school, Doug enlisted and served in the United States Army in Germany obtaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. After completion of service, he attended Woodbury College and graduated with honors receiving a degree in Business Administration and Accounting.

With his brothers, he moved the family forging and heat treating business to Carson City, Nevada in 1975 where they employed many people in the community. Subsequently he established successful businesses in Mexico, Reno, Phoenix, and Las Vegas while retaining his residency in Carson City.

Doug enjoyed outdoor sports, including hunting, fishing, rafting, and particularly snow skiing. He could be found on the Nevada side of Heavenly Valley Ski Resort year after year on any given day. In recent years, Doug enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Jidapa, while he snow skied on four continents.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife, Jidapa; brothers, Steve Kreck and Jeff Kreck; sons, Loren Kreck and Somprasong Toyai; and granddaughters, Lauren and Lilli Kreck. In addition to many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

“There he goes. One of God’s own prototypes. Some kind of high powered adventurer never even considered for mass production.”

There will be a viewing for close friends and family on Saturday, September 21st, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., held at Autumn Funeral Home, 1585 N. Lompa Lane, Carson City. A memorial service to follow on October 12th, location to be announced.
