1947 - 2013
Dick Bell passed away peacefully at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center at the age of 66 years on September 5, 2013. He was born August 28, 1947 in San Pedro, California to Dilley (Red) Bell and Dorothy Bell.
Dick moved to Carson City in 1958. He attended Carson City schools and was a member of the high school class of 1966. He enlisted in the United States Navy that
year and served for 4 years. Dick served on the fast attack Nuclear Submarine the USS Sturgeon during the Cold War with Russia.
After being honorably discharged from the navy he returned to Carson City where he became an accomplished carpenter. He went on and obtained his contractor’s license and built many nice homes in Carson City and Winnemucca.
Dick and his first wife Jan had two sons, Jason and Shane. Dick became heavily involved in youth sports. He coached little league and Babe Ruth Baseball for fifteen years. He was an avid outdoorsman loving both hunting and fishing. He spent many hours with his sons and close friends hunting rural Nevada and fishing Lake Tahoe. Dick was an accomplished scuba diver. He traveled the world many times over diving in as many exotic places as he could find.
Dick was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his loving wife, Lori; sons, Jason and Shane (Jessica); three grand daughters, Emily, Lily, Eva and his beloved dog and companion, Sadie. He also has two brothers, Ron Bell of Vancouver, WA and Denny Bell of Carson City.
Dick’s family and friends plan to continue his legacy. Every hunt, fishing trip, or dive trip his memory will be honored. Dick’s warm smile and generous heart will be missed by the many who knew and loved him.
