Help sought in finding wagon that vanished

On Sept. 16, I put out my trash and recyclables early as usual. I discovered an additional trash bag. Too heavy to carry from the back yard to the street, I put the bag onto the wagon and pulled it to the end of the driveway. The green can was nearly full, so I left the bag on the wagon.

Usually I go out mid-morning to bring in the recycle containers and later the green can. I was busy in the house, and when I went out about 4 p.m., the wagon was gone!

I spoke with a representative of Capital Sanitation, who talked with the driver. He said he never saw the wagon, and I believe him. I frequently use the wagon for my overflow trash, and the refuse workers are used to it, and leave the wagon minus whatever I put in it.

The wagon was my daughter’s. She played with it as a little girl. I lost that daughter to a malignant brain tumor when she was 22 years old.

The wagon was old, a bit rusty and needed a coat of paint. I replaced all four wheels several years ago, but it was still very usable.

My husband offered to buy me a new wagon, but it would not be the same. The wagon has only sentimental value, but it reminded me of happy times with a very special little girl.

If you, who took the wagon for whatever reason, would return it, I would be very grateful.

Obamacare will spend $1 trillion in a decade

On the front page of Thursday’s Nevada Appeal were two articles extolling the benefits of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). All of it sounds wonderful — bigger, better, shiny and new.

The Affordable Care Act, after receiving $500 billion in taxes this law is supposed to generate, is scheduled to spend another trillion dollars in less than 10 years. Did you know that come Jan. 1, 2014, if you don’t have a “government approved” insurance plan, you will be penalized at the rate of 1 percent of your income? Or that the health care insurance companies will have to pay a total $8.5 billion in fees? Who do you think is paying for that? You are.

As President Obama gives big business, unions, himself and Congress waivers, we taxpayers and small business owners are being forced to pay their share. Is there any wonder that businesses have to reduce their work forces and move full-time workers to part-time status? Defund or abolish this law, and just watch this nation’s economy surge. Jobs will open up. Prices will go down because companies won’t have the hammer of increased medical costs hovering over them.

The Obama administration wants us to stop complaining, just sit down and shut up. Why should we do that, when our livelihoods are being threatened by their big government takeover of our private lives? Don’t sit down! Don’t shut up! Call your senators and representatives and tell them to stop this train wreck!
