On Sunday last, the brother of M. Horne, the newsman of this town, was searching for stock in Monitor Valley. He discovered a man standing on the ground by the side of his horse, who seemed to be helpless. Nearing the man, he said he couldn’t see. Leading him to Willow Station, an Indian was hired to take him to Eureka where he could get medical treatment. It was a fortunate occurrence that Brock found him when he did.

A scandal in which a businessman and a young woman of this town are the principal actors is soon to be publicly aired in the courts by the relatives of the latter. The whole affair is an unsavory mess.

The condition of Editor King of the Carson Weekly is much improved and it is possible he will be brought home from Reno within the next few days. The hospital reports him in splendid condition.

The campaign to rid Ormsby County of predatory animals, which in the past few years has proven to be most destructive to sheep herds and other livestock, has ended. Under the direction of A.R. Bumgarner of Steamboat Springs, 22 dogs and four coyotes have been killed in the county.

May 3-10 has been proclaimed National Music Week by Carson City Mayor James Y. Robertson. In proclaiming the event, Robertson urged everyone in the community to take part in activities recognizing the importance of music.

From the April Fool’s edition of the Nevada Ordeal: Scout’s cookie gang crumbles by Alph Knuckles, Appeal Criminal Writer. Four dozen Girl Scouts’ cookies were seized Saturday in what Carson City Sheriff’s detectives called the “biggest cookie raid in Carson City history.” Acting on a tip from a snubbed Boy Scout, 10 Carson Sheriff’s deputies raided a Girl Scout slumber party at 584 Baby Face Lane, Saturday night.
