In the last column, I focused on how the Fallon Youth Club supports the children of Churchill County. This time, I have decided to introduce you ways in which you can support our cause.

What we really need, first and foremost, is a large or small monetary donation from each member of our caring community. We would like to identify those of you who are willing to give to a most worthy cause.

Think of all the donations you make in a year and, although they may go to fund national concerns, we in Fallon will be lucky if a small fraction returns to make an impact locally. I can make you this promise: 100 percent of donations made to the Fallon Youth Club go directly to serving local children. The money stays in Churchill County and benefits the future of the children of Churchill County.

We, of course, would love to receive a single donation that would, for example, fund our homework assistance program or our entire summer lunch program. However, we are also quite aware that times are difficult and that single large donations are few and far between. That’s why we at the Fallon Youth Club initiated the “Love the Club” campaign.

This program allows you to pledge a monthly amount of $10 or more to support the club. Donations can be given through automatic withdrawal from your checking account, Google Checkout, bill pay and more.

Our automatic withdrawal service is FDIC insured so you can rest assured that your money is protected. The “Love the Club” campaign enables everyone to give a small amount but make a big difference.

Of course, there are other ways to support the club, but right now I would like to reach out to those of you who are willing to give monetary support so we can ensure that our children get the services they need.

Please call or visit the Fallon Youth Club (775-423-6926 or at 545 East Richards Street) to initiate your yearly or monthly giving today. If you know one of our board members, contact them to discuss what you can do to support the Fallon Youth Club.

Please look for this column in the upcoming months and learn about all the services we provide and how important we are to your community.

Thank you for your attention.

Lem Mackedon is the president of the board of directors for the Fallon Youth Club.
