The Churchill County Library Foundation is hosting its 10th annual wine tasting event on Saturday at 7 p.m. with all proceeds to benefit the library building fund.

The event will be held at the library. Last year, almost 100 people attended, and the foundation hopes to meet or top that number this year.

Tickets are $25 and include wine and beer tasting and a souvenir wine glass. Tickets can be purchased at the library before the event or at the door.

Carol Lloyd, library director, said the fundraiser accepts donations from local business that are willing to participate in the cause.

“Local businesses have been very supportive,” Lloyd said. “We have received several donations from different business such as Churchill Vineyards, the Fallon Golf Course, Pizza Barn, Red Zinnia, Sew N Vac and the Reno Aces, just to name a few.”

Lloyd said the donations will be used for a silent auction where attendees can bid on the items. She said bidding is currently open and will be open until the highest bidders are announced on Saturday night.

“All of the money that we raise from the tasting goes straight back to the library,” Lloyd said. “The money allows us to purchase things that the library needs for the community. The community has been very supportive of the library and what we do.”

Lloyd said Churchill Vineyards will provide most of the wine for the tasting. She said there will be other vineyards represented.

“Expect a wide selection of various reds and whites to be offered,” Lloyd said. “Beer will also be available for those who are not big into wine. I’m not sure what type of beer will be provide, though, since I’m not the one handling it, but I do know it’ll be a good selection.”

There will also be a raffle during the event.

To keep things lively and fun, Lloyd said patrons may participate in a Nevada quiz that will consist of several questions with multiple-choice answers. The winning individual or group will receive prizes.

“The auction items are currently on display at the library for interested bidders,” Lloyd said. “Bid sheets are also available in advance in case people are unable to attend on Saturday.”

Snacks will be provided as well as nonalcoholic drinks. For information, call 775-423-7581.
