The coming execution of Murphy has made mention in the Chronicle: “Sheriff Swift, of Ormsby County, has addressed a communication to Chief Lackey, of this city, requesting his assistance to preserve order, with as many of our police force as can be spared. We learn that a great number of persons intend going down to see Murphy swung off, many of whom have a curiosity to see a man hung once in their lives. Women are usually out in full force at executions, but it is scarcely possible for this one.” (Continued on Tuesday.)
