“Family Fun Saturdays” returns to the Nevada State Museum in Carson with “Wild and Wonderful Wetlands” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Guests will explore how American Indians used plants from the wetlands for food, medicine and clothing in the museum’s Discovery Lab. The program also examines what kinds of birds and animals use wetlands for their homes. Hands-on activities will be available, including 30-minute lab or art projects in groups of eight. Participants can make a rubbing or bookmark to take home.
The nature program is aimed at children 5 and older interested in science and examining real specimens in a lab setting.
Hosted in the museum’s natural history discovery lab at 600 N. Carson St., the event is free for museum members and children 17 and younger. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Adult tickets cost $8 and are available at the admissions desk; they go on sale at 9 a.m.
