Now it is the boosters’ turn.

The Greenwave Quarterback Club is hosting its second annual fundraiser Saturday at the Fallon Convention Center and features drinks, dinner and a trio of comedians headlined by Sean Peabody.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and costs $25 per person, according to club president Kim Beeghly.

‘Our goal is to have one fundraiser,” she said. “We are just here to help.”

The dinner is a spaghetti feed, and the funds raised benefit the football program. Beeghly said the money provides food during two-a-day practices in August, helps with costs for coaching and team camps plus assisting any player in need.

The club, which is unaffiliated with Churchill County High School, may also assist with any costs for Fallon’s first game next season in California. The Wave will travel to Loomis to face Del Oro.

Del Oro lost in the CIF State Division I Championship game, 56-26, to Bakersfield in December.

Despite both clubs earning a berth in their respective state title games, the Fallon booster club is aiming for a night of fun for Greenwave supporters.

Part of the club’s campaign to spread the word has been using social media, radio, newspapers, fliers and word-of-mouth.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Beeghly said. “We just want all the support we can.”

Beeghly said the club is cooking for 300 people and hopes that goal comes to fruition. Last year’s event drew 100 people and also featured Peabody. The recipe for the spaghetti comes courtesy of Jon D’Angelo, CEO of Banner Churchill Community Hospital.

The comedian’s act, which Beeghly described as clean, was a hit and he was asked to return this year.

“He was just a crack-up,” she added. “They’re just hilarious and it’s different. It’s a great date night.”
