SPARKS — The first IMAX theater in the Reno-Tahoe area is set to open on Feb. 12 at the Legends shopping center at the Sparks Marina.
Galaxy Theaters president Rafe Cohen said in a statement Wednesday the Sparks Galaxy Luxury+ IMAX theater will open its doors at 12:01 a.m. for a special showing of the new 3D “Robocop” movie.
The theater will feature a 75-foot screen with stadium seating in high-back, rocker chairs.
In addition to the IMAX theater, the facility will have 11 smaller theaters with digital projectors and a Dolby sound system. All theaters will feature touch-controlled reclining seats with footrests. Concessions will include a build-your-own sausage bar.
