According to the Bureau of Land Management, wildland firefighters are expected to demobilize from a fire that began eight days ago in the Desatoya Wilderness Area east of Fallon.

Hot shot, engine and Helitack crews were on the scene battling the fire that consumed more than 230 acres of mountainous terrain.

The BLM said lighting caused the fire.

Over the weekend there were also three human-caused fires which burned about 333 acres. So far this year, 14 fires have burned 765 acres on lands managed by the Carson City District.
