State recruiting peace officers

The Department of Public Safety has opened a special recruitment period seeking applicants for both the highway patrol and parole and probation posts.

A spokesman said there are currently 15 P&P posts open along with five for troopers in the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The NHP positions are primarily in the Elko area but also for Las Vegas.

This recruitment period will be followed by the department’s normal recruiting in September when more posts will be available.

The department also has openings in the Capitol Police Division.

The annual salary for the different positions ranges from $47,606 to $70,804 a year.

A spokesman said applications will be accepted until recruitment needs are satisfied.
