Café at Adele’s honored by TripAdvisor

Café at Adele’s received a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, which honors businesses that make significant contributions to the community, and also was recognized in the Don’t Forget to Share category of Nevada Business Magazine’s 2014 Family-owned Businesses Awards, sponsored by Nevada State Bank.

“The TripAdvisor award is significant in that it is based solely on how well our customers, many of them visitors to Carson City, feel we are doing and serves as a reminder that excellence counts,” said Charlie Abowd, chef and co-owner, with his wife, Karen Abowd, of Café at Adele’s.

“Carson City was well represented in the list of nominees and speaks well of the kinds of folks who live here, do business here, and I hope this will inspire the birth of new business and encourage others to consider relocating here,” Abowd said. “As far as giving back, Karen and I just do what we do because we believe it’s the right thing and part of why we’re on earth. To be recognized is humbling.”

Other Carson City winners for Nevada Business Magazine’s awards included: Critical Tattoo, Whippersnapper category for a business less than 10 years old; Little Smudgeez, Protector category for a business that has made significant efforts to go green and reduce the company’s carbon footprint; Comma Coffee, Swimming Upstream category for a minority or female owned business; and ABC Heating & Sheet Metal, Change is Good category, for a business that has moved on to the second generation or further, and has successfully used the younger generation’s ideas.

Other Carson City nominees for Nevada Business Magazine’s awards included: Vineburg Machining, Inc, When the Going Gets Tough category for a business that faced adversity and made changes to adapt to challenges; Nature’s Bakers, The More the Merrier category for businesses employing 50 or more people and Nevada Insurance Agency Company, Wisdom of Age category, for businesses operating for more than 25 years.
