Gang member arrested for brandishing pistol after fight on Friday

A fight in Lampe Park on Friday resulted in the arrest of a known gang member in Carson City on Saturday.

Andrew Tagay, 25, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mills Park in Carson City.

After Douglas County deputies broke up a gang fight, witnesses identified Tagay as the person who brandished a pistol hidden under his shirt.

Carson City officers stated Tagay was arrested for suspicion of felony ex-felon in possession of a firearm, carrying concealed weapon, a gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanors, affray — the public fighting charge — and violating alternative sentencing conditions. The report stated the Carson City Justice of the Peace ordered his bail raised to $500,000.

Eight people were arrested on Friday night in downtown Gardnerville on charges ranging from affray, battery on a peace officer, disorderly conduct, and civil protective custody, Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks said.

That was in addition to nine people arrested elsewhere in the county for DUI, warrant, civil protective custody, trespass, possession of a controlled substance and theft.

The various public safety and support agencies involved in this event worked extremely well together, Brooks said.

“I extend my gratitude to the men and women of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts, Douglas County Emergency Communications Center, and Nevada Highway Patrol for ensuring the event remained safe for all attendees,” Pierini said Monday.

Pierini expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of Douglas County residents on Saturday morning for the closure of Highway 395 for the annual parade.
