A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday in the 1200 block of South Curry Street on suspicion of felony grand larceny involving a motor vehicle.

According to the man’s arrest report:

A deputy was dispatched to a home on Kay Court at 12:43 p.m. on a report of a stolen vehicle. A man said his brother, Josh Baroni, had stolen their father’s truck, and that the father wanted to press charges.

The deputy talked via phone with the father, who said Baroni had been told not to visit his property because of family issues. The father said another of his sons had informed him that Baroni had visited, then saw Baroni leaving in the truck, a 2004 Ford F-250.

Shortly thereafter, a dispatcher received a call from one of the brothers, who said he’d found the truck. The deputy saw a man walking away from the truck and approached, and the man identified himself as Baroni. When asked what was going on, he said it was just family issues and that he was borrowing the truck.

After he was arrested, Baroni said he and his family are going through tough times, and that his father was only pressing charges as a joke. Bail was set at $25,000.

Baroni remained in the Carson City Jail on Monday afternoon.
