The Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority recently met to discuss and/or approve possible grants for applications.

Consideration and approval included the following grant applications:

Hutchings Performance Horses received grant funds for $2,500 for their ninth annual horse sale and event. This sale provides top of the line quarter horse to be sold. There will also be team roping, team branding, sorting, an extreme trail competition, barrel racing and a halter class.

Churchill Arts Council received grant funds for $8,000 for performances, exhibits and films at Oats Park Art Center. In 2014-2015, nine performing, six visual, six film and three literary events will take place to include artists of high artistic quality.

Springs Wings received grant funds for $4,000 for environmental education within the Lahontan Valley. Churchill County will be promoted as a recreational destination and exceptional birding area and provide a quality family-oriented outdoor experience and environmental education to local community and out-of-area visitors.

WGAS Motorsports Octane Fest received grant funds for $10,000 for motorsports entertainment that brings quality, high energy, and affordable that is suitable for the entire family.

The Lahontan Valley Bird Dog club grant was tabled because of late information.
