Fallon’s Leggett nabs 3 wins

Patricia Leggett is serving notice to the Division I-A.

The Fallon sophomore came away with three wins and one second-place finish at the High Desert Invitational at Reed High School in Sparks on Friday.

Leggett accounted for more than half of Fallon’s points as the Lady Wave tied for third with Elko (72) behind Spring Creek (138.5) and McQueen (115.25).

With one week remaining in the regular season, Leggett’s performance

Leggett won the 100- and 200-meter races plus the triple jump and was runner-up in the high jump. She blazed to a 12.05 second win in the 100 and nipped Dayton’s Lettie Lynch by .06 seconds to take the 200 in 26.79.

Leggett won the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 6 inches and capped her day with a mark of 4-10 in the high jump.

Senior Elena Murray racked up more than 20 points with another solid performance for the Lady Wave. She placed second in 100 hurdles (16.39) and triple jump (33-5) and fourth in the long jump (15-4.5).

Leann Stands took seventh in the shot put (32-3.5), while Savannah Lamb was eighth in the discus (96-11).

The boys, meanwhile, took fourth with 81 points behind Reed (122), McQueen (104) and Elko (84).

Beau Marshall led Fallon with a win in the triple jump (44-3), and Jaek Ernst was second (41-4).

Trent Tarner took second and third in the 100 (11.5) and 200 (23.62), respectively. Fallon’s sprinters also include Jake Ernst in fifth in the 100 (11.65) and Nathan Heck in fourth in the 200 (23.89). Heck also placed second in the 110 hurdles (16.40).

Tristen Thomson gave Fallon a pair of top eight finishes in the distance races as the sophomore was third in the 800 (2:07.54) and eighth in the 1,600 (4:57.44).

In the field, Justin Hatfield was fourth in the shot put (47-9.25) and Jordan Schultz eighth in the pole vault (11-6).

On Saturday, Fallon took a limited squad to Douglas for the Big George Invitational.

The boys placed seventh (26.5) and the Lady Wave 19th (one). Prom limited the athletes who opted to compete Friday and not on Saturday.

Nevertheless, Heck was fifth in 100 (11.43) and third in the pole vault (13-6).

Charles Fulks and Ernst placed sixth (23.5) and seventh (23.82), respectively, in the 200, while Thomson was fifth in the 1,600 (4:49.46).

T.J Mauga took sixth in the discus (131-6), while Marshall was sixth in the long jump (20-4). Evan Bitter was also sixth in the triple jump (39-7.75).

Stands was the lone Lady Wave athlete to score as she was eighth in the discus (101-10).
