On Biblical authority

I am responding to Alan Banfield’s letter. Mr. Banfield states that “Biblical authority itself came from the culture of its time.” I am a member of another Bible-believing congregation in Carson, one that Mr. Banfield states preaches “fear and intolerance.” It is to these quotes that this letter is directed.

The Holy Bible is Holy not because man wrote it, but because it is God’s word.

2 Timothy 3:16: “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

Therefore it is the Christian pastor and elders’ responsibility to ensure that their flock follow God’s word. In the U.S. Constitution, First Amendment, Mr. Banfield and I are free to worship in any church we choose.

I deeply regret that Mr. Banfield feels that those who believe in Biblical authority, live in fear and intolerance. God is sovereign and his word has already prepared me for these days.

Ephesians 6:12: “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this age.”

We are in a spiritual war with Satan, not you and others who disagree with us but with your ideas that are contrary to scripture. You are created in God’s image. I respect you, for you are my neighbor in Carson.

We live in a pluralistic society, but God is not pluralistic. In John 14:6, Jesus, who is God, states that “no one comes to the Father except through me.”
