Several of the state’s best prep athletes reside in Fallon.
And for the second straight season, Greenwave soccer player Corbin Waite is a first team all-state selection. In addition, Waite also earned first team All-Northern Division I-A honors after he helped lead Fallon into the regional playoffs.
Joining Waite, who recorded six goals and nine assists, as an all-state selection is senior volleyball player Evan Matheson. She was named second team all-state in the DI-A and first team All-North.
Matheson led the club with 134 kills, 45 total blocks and was second with 14 aces.
Forward Fidel Enriquez and midfielder Pedro Barajas were selected to the North’s second team, while forward Tristan Parrott, midfielder Austin Bischoff and fullback Josh Moulton were named honorable mention.
The six standouts lifted Fallon to a 9-6-1 league record and 11-8-3 overall. The Wave finished fourth and fell 4-1 to Truckee in the first round of the playoffs.
Enriquez led the club with 17 goals, while Parrott added 12 and Bischoff had two and nine assists.
Waite, meanwhile, was the driving force in the middle, controlling the pace, setting up counter attacks and opening lanes for Enriquez, Parrott and others to operate.
Truckee’s Tom Arnstein, meanwhile, was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
As for the Lady Wave, Jordin Warner earned second team all-league honors, while Megan Warner, Mayzie Jones, Macy Myers and Savannah Sweeney were selected honorable mention.
South Tahoe’s Jordyn Dion was tabbed the league’s MVP.
Jordin Warner was second on the team with six goals, while Megan Warner tallied one goal and three assists. Jones was an anchor on defense and Myers tallied a team-high seven goals and five assists.
In goal, Sweeney recorded 116 saves and allowed 32 goals.
As for the volleyball team, Lady Wave setter Zoey Swisher, libero Kyla Kincaid and outside hitter Whitney Skabelund were named honorable mention.
Swisher recorded a team-high 211 assists and 52 digs, while Kincaid led the team with 140 digs. Skabelund tallied 58 kills, 11 total blocks and seven aces.
