Dec. 1947- Aug. 2014

Sandy passed on Monday August 25th, too soon in the hearts of her loved ones. She was an adored wife married to Francis for 25 years; and is survived by her sisters Cheryl and Susan; children Lynlee, Jared and Stewart (Mac) and her three step children Robert (Bob), Dwayne and Lara. She had 10 grandchildren that she adored and loved deeply. Her family will forever miss her and her kind heart. Sandy grew up in San Luis Obispo, California, but spent most of her adult life in Carson City, Nevada. She devoted her career to public education in Carson City and Reno, where she primarily focused her efforts to the gifted and talented program in which she took great pride. She took joy in challenging and watching young minds excel and delighted in all that education offered the children that she taught. Sandy started her education as an aspiring teacher at Brigham Young University and later received her Masters Degree at the University of Nevada, Reno. She also taught those seeking careers in education at the University of Phoenix and Western Nevada College. Sandy enjoyed sharing her knowledge and hoped to inspire future educators. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional society for female educators. Sandy was fond of traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and her animals, watching Days of Our Lives, and playing Dominoes. She had a great sense of humor and was always looking for fun. There were no services held but you can pay your respects at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley and Cemetery in Carson City. In her memory, she would want those who knew her to remember: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” ~Dr. Seuss
