LAS VEGAS — Officials say a quarantine has been lifted from an airplane at a Las Vegas airport after paramedics and health officials evaluated a sick child and his mother and determined the boy’s in-flight illness didn’t meet the criteria for Ebola.
Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said Friday that neither the woman nor the boy, about a year old, was hospitalized.
McCarran International Airport officials say Delta Flight 495 from John F. Kennedy Airport was quarantined on the tarmac at about 11 a.m. while officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Southern Nevada Health District responded.
Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews says the precautionary steps were taken after authorities were told that a passenger who had recently traveled to Africa had vomited on board.
