At a meeting of the Carson City Jockey Club held last evening at the Magnolia Saloon, the resolution passed at a previous meeting fixing the time of holding the fall meeting of the club on the 10th of November was reconsidered and the 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st of October replaced instead. This was done to accommodate the horsemen who have engagements in California and elsewhere.

A Terrible Vengeance. It is generally believed that the causes which led to the killing of a Paiute Indian in Chinatown lay in the fact he had several times informed the authorities of the selling of alcohol to the Indians in Chinatown. Several of the sellers were arrested. From the appearance of the body, at least a dozen had taken a whack at it.

According to the Tonopah Bonanza, the leader of the I.W.W. band advancing on Tonopah is an educated Yaqui Indian. The travelers are said to have refused work at Lahontan saying, “We have a mission to perform.”

Carson City dollars are on their way to the crew of the U.S.S. Nevada. The “Galloping Ghost,” a silver Navy transport plane, glided down the runway to land at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Alameda, and in the cargo was a magnesium chest containing 2,368 silver dollars for the crew of the Nevada.

Susan Dolan celebrated her birthday with a party at her parent’s home. Attending were Kathy and Kenny Butti, Linda Pardini, Dennis Groth, Bobby Morgan, Alan Glover, Jeanne and Freddie Fendrich, Billy and Freddie Berning. Games were played and refreshments served.
Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
