Tahoe Ridge Winery is the new tenant leasing the building that once housed Carson City’s Station Grill at 1105 S. Carson St., the principals have confirmed.
Joanne Holmes of the Carrington Co. in Eureka, Calif., and Tom King of the winery said the deal was struck for the lease on the 10,000 square foot building just north and west of the Carson Mall. Word about the matter leaked last week at an event in Carson City, but Holmes declined to confirm it until everything was signed and her prospective client was prepared to make a public announcement.
“We have a tenant,” Holmes said this week. “I’m so happy. It’s going to be a good fit.” Holmes last week had declined to make any announcement, saying her policy is to leave that timing to her tenants.
King, chief operating officer for Tahoe Ridge, said Tuesday the plan is to use the entire space but all other particulars, including a target opening date, are up in the air. Tahoe Ridge Winery has a restaurant in Minden at which it serves fine food and the winery’s fare.
“We have things in place,” he said of the lease details, but subsequent announcements will come “as soon as I get all these pieces to the puzzle put together.”
After word leaked last week, a Carson City Chamber of Commerce brief on the chamber’s website called the addition a fine addition for Carson Street and the capital city’s tourism efforts. The chamber brief also credited the Carrington Co. for getting tenants into both the mall and the old former bar/restaurant space nearby. Holmes this week said she’s thrilled.
