OK Carson Senators, our help has been requested for a community service project. The C on C Hill is in need of fresh paint. All of the paint and supplies have been donated. So now we just need manpower. We will meet at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the Greenhouse Garden Center on Curry Street. We will hike up to the C and give the C a fresh paint before the 150th anniversary of Nevada Day. Teachers, staff, students, parents, alumni and any other community members are welcome to help. Contact Angila Golik at 283-1737 for more information.

HOMECOMING RESULTS

Fred Christensen and Abbey Dudley were crowned Homecoming 2014 Royalty King and Queen last week at the football game against Bishop Manogue. Also, winners of the float contest were announced at halftime. Congratulations to the freshmen class of 2018 for winning the float battle. Second place went to the junior class of 2016. And finally, congratulations to the CHS football team for beating Manogue 42-0.

STUDENT WINS NAT’L RODEO EVENT

Caden Lehman, a senior, an officer for the Capitol FFA program, and an officer in the Douglas-Carson High School Rodeo Club, recently had his biggest win doing what he loves. He’s involved in team roping and calf roping and is a member of American Cowboys Team Roping Association. Recently at the ACTRA National Finals in Reno at the Livestock Events Center, Caden won the Super 7 National Championship, landing him and his partner, Jack Curry of Gardnerville, each new Royal T 3-horse trailers, buckles and $10,000 cash. To date this is Caden’s biggest win, earlier this year he won two roping saddles, buckles and money, but nothing quite compares to winning this awesome trophy horse trailer and a national title. Caden is looking forward to representing his FFA Chapter next week while competing at FFA Nationals in Kentucky and he’s currently talking to a few rodeo college coaches and touring campuses to get ready for his college rodeo years.

FFA TO NATIONALS

The Capitol FFA Chapter is headed to the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ken., Oct. 27-Nov. 1. Lehman will represent the state of Nevada in the National Dairy Handler contest while the remaining students in attendance will be representing Nevada by sharing Nevada agriculture, natural resource, and mining facts to 50,000-70,000 FFA members at the trade show.

BOWLING STARTS

The CHS bowling team will have its first club meeting on Monday, Nov. 3 at 2:15 p.m. at Gold Dust West bowling center. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Mannschreck in room 231 or call 283-1743.

AUTO BODY DONATIONS

Do you have a good used car or truck sitting in your driveway or backyard. Do not give it to a junk yard. Would you like to denote it to the Automotive Service Technology or Auto Body Classes to be used for student training? We can give you a letter for your taxes and you will be helping our students to learn on actual vehicles. We could use some good late model vehicles to teach our students the new technology. Please contact Bill Barbie, automotive service technology teacher at 283-1681 or bbarbie@carson.k12.nv.us.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Our fall blood drive was a success. There were 188 lifesaving donors who stepped up to donate, giving 148 successful donations, resulting in 185 products for our community. Thank you to the National Honor Society members for doing such a fantastic job organizing the drive and thank you to students and community member who donated and supported such a worthy cause. Your hard work and dedication to the community blood program is greatly appreciated.
