Sandra Medeiros, author of a thriller set in Carson City, will sell and sign her book at Dayton Valley Days on Sept. 20-21.

Medeiros’ book “Death at a Bargain Price” follows the story of Carson City women as they bargain hunt at yard sales. They encounter a sale from hell, which leaves women brutally murdered, and it’s up to Sheriff Dick Long and investigator June Jackson to track down the culprit or culprits.

Medeiros, who was raised in Hawaii, has been a Nevada resident for 30 years. She graduated from Western Nevada College.

Dayton Valley Days offers a pancake breakfast each day and features crafts and vendors, a pet parade, chili cook-off, live music, Rail Road Days activities and tours of the historic sites.

Saturday’s Gold Creek Show-n-Shine cars show will showcase customs, classics, tuners, muscle cars, rods, antiques, sports cars, trucks and vehicles under construction. To register, call Dennis or Merilee Lindsay at 775-246-1628.

The Ghost Soldiers Motorcycle Show & Shine, held on the event’s final day, offers trophies in two categories, street bikes and sports bikes. To register, call Tom Lakey at 775-443-5919.

All festival proceeds help support local charities and preservation of the town’s historic community center. For more information, go to daytonvalleydays.org.
