Leatrice Drew, 82, of Dayton, has been identified as the woman killed during a single vehicle rollover in Carson City on Saturday morning.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says a 2009 White Nissan Versa driven by 83-year-old Dayton resident Daniel Drew was traveling westbound on Highway 50 in the right lane when for unknown reasons the vehicle drove off the roadway and onto the north dirt shoulder. Drew lost control of his vehicle as it ran into a ditch and rolled at 8:55 a.m.

The vehicle landed on its wheels in the ditch at the intersection of Highway 50 and East Nye Lane.

Leatrice Drew died at the scene. Daniel Drew was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight medical helicopter with serious injuries.

It is unclear if the Drews were wearing their seatbelts properly before the accident.

Alcohol or drugs are not a factor at this time. The accident is still under investigation. That area of the highway is two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane. The speed limit is 45 mph.

Trooper Douglas Hildebrand of the Nevada Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this accident. Witnesses or anyone with additional information are encouraged to contact him at (775) 689-4623 or dhildebrand@dps.state.nv.us regarding case number NHP- 140802715
