Carson City hosts authors and more next month at Nevada State Museum

The following is a schedule of events happening in October at Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St.

Patrick Betson, Jackie Boor, Guy Nixon Redcorn, and Stan Paher, authors of books with Nevada subjects, will be available to meet at a book signing event from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 in the museum’s Dema Guinn Concourse.

An event about bats will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 as part of the museum’s Family Fun Saturday series.

Fremont’s Lost and Found will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Dr. George Baumgardner will lead behind-the-scenes tours of Nevada plants and animals at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Oct. 24. For reservations, call Deborah Stevenson at 775-687-4810, ext. 237.

Ken Hopple will lead demonstrations of Coin Press No. 1 from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Carson City Mint building. For more, call Robert Nylen at 775-687-4810, ext. 245.

To celebrate Nevada’s sesquicentennial anniversary, the museum will offer free admission to all exhibits from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
