Carson High School band director Bill Zabelsky agreed to step in as conductor of Carson Valley Pops Orchestra and will be assisted by Stephanie Dodge Reynolds.

“While we have been well-served by our current conductor, Elizabeth Eubanks, we realize she will be quite busy with her classes and other obligations this fall, so we have made the decision to bring on Bill and Stephanie as our associate conductors to help lighten the load,” said Judy Sheldrew, the orchestra’s president.

Zabelsky, who was named Nevada Music Educators Association Music Educator of the Year in 2013, brings more than 35 years of experience as a music teacher in Nevada. His groups have performed in more than 210 field shows and countless parades.

Reynolds has worked with many ensembles over the years and has gained experience conducting and teaching a variety of groups. She’s working on a music education degree at the University of Nevada and has played in all forms of ensembles from chamber music to musicals to large orchestras and jazz bands.

Both associate conductors will be featured at Carson Valley Pops Orchestra’s upcoming concert, which will feature western movie and TV themes, at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 in the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Other concerts are scheduled for Dec. 13, April 11 and July 4 at the same time and place.

All performances are free. For more information, call 775-843-0830, or go to www.cvpops.org.
