The Carson City Library is kicking off National Library Week with a performance by Primal Mates, a chamber jazz duo whose act marries music and poetry that ranges from William Shakespeare to Jack Kerouac, at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Digitorium.

Other events scheduled in the Digitorium for the week-long celebration include “65 Years of Old West History” with Charles and Mary Ann Convis at 6:30 p.m. April 14. The Convises will talk about their collection of old western history volumes; selected copies of the collection will be available for purchase.

Local author Shirley Oxoby will present a reading from her book titled “Silent Warrior: A Journey of Hope” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15. Oxoby’s book follows the story of her daughter’s life-threatening allergic reaction after eating a bite of candy containing hazelnut extract.

The events are sponsored by the Friends of the Carson City Library. For more information, call 775-887-2244, or go to www.carsoncitylibrary.org.
