Tom Zogorski of Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge was presented with two awards at the Nevada State Elks Association Convention in Hawthorne.
The Elks member was honored with the Veteran Volunteer Award for his work as veteran chairman of Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge, a role in which he led trips to visit hospitalized veterans, held a veterans dinner and provided donations to VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System Home in Reno and Sally Wiley’s gift packages to troops. Zogorski also worked with Welcome All Vets Everywhere, a local veterans assistance group.
Zogorski also received the Best Youth Activities Program award for his work as chairman of the Elks Beacon Program that provided area schools with supplies, Christmas presents, books and winter clothes. The Elks also supported the school’s Memorial Day program for veterans and mailed the school’s letters to troops.
Zogorski thanks all Elks and WAVE members who helped with the projects.
