Edward M. Block passed away on Dec. 8, 2015 at 93. A lifelong Nevada Resident, Ed never lived more than 50 miles from where he was born except while serving in the Navy in WWII. Carson City Sheriff’s Office: Man arrested on suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court. Monday • At 9:27 a.m., a 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested at an East Hampton Drive apartment on charges he allegedly drew a gun on his brother’s girlfriend during an argument. According to the police report, he threatened the woman with the weapon. He was arrested on suspicion of a misdemeanor charge of drawing a weapon in a threatening manner and held in lieu of $500 bail.

The Nevada Human Resources Division has set up an exit interview system for employees leaving state service. Division Administrator Lee-Ann Easton said the idea is, “employees who choose to leave their jobs can provide valuable feedback to help improve the work environment.”

Carson City Sheriff’s Log: Man arrested on felony charge of discharging a firearm

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court. Wednesday • At 8:03 a.m., a 55-year-old Carson man was arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 50 East. A registration check revealed the vehicle’s registration had been surrendered. The driver also was charged with no valid drivers’ license and contempt of court issued by Reno Justice Court. Total bail was set at $1,595.

AGRICULTURE NEWS BRIEFS

Agricultural Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the availability of $350 million to help landowners protect and restore key farmlands, grasslands and wetlands across the nation. The funding is provided through the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP), created by the 2014 Farm Bill to protect critical water resources and wildlife habitat, and encourage private owners to maintain land for farming and ranching. Through the voluntary sale of an easement, landowners limit future development to protect these key resources.

Carson City issues DNA warrant in judge threats case

Carson City law enforcement officials announced Friday they have issued a DNA arrest warrant for the suspect involved in a shooting incident of a local judge. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has been conducting a three-year long investigation into multiple death threats against Carson City Judge John Tatro and his family. In 2012, an unknown suspect fired shots into Tatro’s residence; in 2014, a Christmas card with the message “You will die” written inside was sent to the house; and in May 2015, an incendiary device was placed outside the residence. Officials said they are confident that all the incidents are related and perpetrated by the same suspect.

A 39-year-old Fernley woman died early Thursday after the vehicle she was riding in crashed trying to elude Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies. LYSO attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a speeding motorist on Main Street in Fernley at 12:10 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle’s driver refused to stop and led the deputy on a high-speed chase on Miller Lane. The driver failed to maintain vehicle control and crashed into the water-filled Truckee-Carson Irrigation District Canal.

Charles F. Fulton born on November 13, 1928 and passed on December 6, 2015 at the Veterans Hospital in Reno, NV. Survived by wife Mildred Fulton, and father of 6. He was in the Korean War and served proudly in the United States Army. One of the Flyers Club Members for years. Loved by all and we will miss him. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1PM at Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Dr. Fallon- 423-2255 with viewing one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in the Fallon cemetery with military honors.

The Carson City Fire Department responded to a house fire around 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The house, located on the 700 block of W. 5th Street, was reportedly empty at the time of the fire, though some residents believed a pet may have been inside.

It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved father. Sam passed in peace on November 30, 2015 at age 92. A Carson City judge denied re-sentencing on a two-year-old murder charge Wednesday in District Court. Michael Evans is currently serving a life sentence with possibility of parole for second-degree murder for his involvement in the 2013 death of Nevada Insurance Examiner William McCune.
