Full Circle Soils & Compost has donated an antique hay derrick to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. The unique piece of agricultural equipment was originally owned and used by Carson Valley’s historic Dangberg Land & Live Stock Co. in the early decades of the 20th century.
“Though the mast, boom and related equipment are no longer present, the derrick’s base helps our volunteers educate local students and other visitors about how ranch work was managed in Carson Valley’s past,” said Mark Jensen, the park’s curator.
Full Circle Soils & Compost recently closed its retail location at the north end of Carson Valley, where the derrick had been stored. With an expanded product line and a new focus on wholesale distribution, the company was forced to find a new home for the derrick.
“We think the Dangberg Historic Park is the perfect new home for the derrick, considering its history” said Craig Witt, owner of Full Circle Soils & Compost.
The company’s website, fullcirclecompost.com, has been redesigned to make information easier to find. The site includes a directory of garden shops and nurseries throughout Western Nevada that offer the company’s environmentally friendly products, as well as gardening tips, composting information and recipes.
“This rebrand will give our customers more access and convenience,” Witt said. “I believe our new brand is more approachable, fun, and all about healthy and happy growing.”
Guided history tours of the Dangberg ranch house continue year-round. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 775-783-9417.
