Carson TV, BAC & digital arts club hosting St. Patrick’s Day film contest

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson TV and Wired Wednesday Digital Arts Club will hold their inaugural St. Paddy’s Film Crawl, a short filmmaking competition whose screening and judging will be on March 14.

Filmmakers are encouraged to partner with downtown businesses, which will show their film repeatedly from 4 to 10 p.m. March 14. The audience will “crawl” from location to location to view films, then voting will commence on Facebook.

Films, whose length cannot be less than one minute or more than 10 minutes, must utilize one fact about St. Patrick’s Day in documentary or mockumentary format.

A narrative must be somewhere within the film as well as a downtown business the film team partners with.

Films are due on March 7, and an additional week is allowed for further promotion of the films using social media, print or promotional gadgets. An audience choice award will be given to the film that accrues the largest number of votes on March 14, and the makers of the best films win a meet and greet with director and filmmaker Barbara Allen.

Downtown businesses are asked to contact Bayer to participate, but businesses must be capable to show films. Businesses can create their own film team, or a registered team will be assigned to them.
