Milan was born on April 5, 1933 in Kellogg, Idaho to Joseph and Helen (Dejanovich) Tresnit. He passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2015. Milan grew up in Kellogg and Moscow, Idaho, where he graduated from Moscow High School in 1951 and the University of Idaho in 1957, obtaining his Master of Education. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Milan obtained his Professional Degree in Education at the University of Nevada, Reno. Milan received numerous honors and awards throughout his years in education, including Carson High Booster of the year award in 1974. Milan began his teaching career in 1956 at Clark Fork High School, Clark Fork, Idaho. In 1958 he served as Principal at Post Falls Junior High School and in 1959 was Vice Principal of Potlach High School in Potlach, Idaho. Milan moved to Carson City in 1962 and began teaching Social Studies and Driver’s Education at Carson High School. In 1966 Milan became Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of the Carson City School District, and in 1969 became the Director of Personnel and Transportation. In 1981 and until his retirement in 1990, Milan was the Director of Operations and Assistant Superintendent. Milan was a people person, he loved talking to everyone and no one was a stranger. No matter where he went, he either knew someone or made a lifelong friend. Milan had an affinity for sports. In high school, he was Idaho All State in both basketball and football. He was the catcher for Moscow, Idaho’s fast pitch softball team, taking State in 1955 and 1957. Milan coached basketball, Little League baseball and Pop Warner football. He thoroughly enjoyed taking trips and golfing with his family, including attending sporting events of his children and granddaughters. He was a lifetime member of the Nevada Interscholastic Athletic Association (NIAA). Milan was inducted into the Carson High School Football Hall of Fame in 2010, who established a yearly award in his name. Milan was past President and Director of the Carson City Host Lions Club and a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #2177. Milan’s greatest joys were his children, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Milan is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jerri, sons Morey and Joe Tresnit, daughter Milani (Eddy) McKinley, proud Pa Pa to granddaughters Alissa (Scott) Pattison, Marcella and Erica Watson, and his “little girls” great-granddaughters Gracelyn and Spencer Pattison; sister Mary Ann (Archie) Rodgers, brother Bob Tresnit, niece Debbie (Gary) Helseth, nephew Travis (Julie) Tresnit and great-niece Sadie. Please join the family for a celebration of Milan’s life on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 3:30 p.m., FitzHenry’s Funeral Home, 3945 Fairview Drive, Carson City, Nevada.
