The defeat of the anti-gambling bill. After a very lively skirmish, or downright battle, rather, Sen. Davenport’s bill to repeal the existing act licencing gaming was defeated by a very decided vote in the negative. We give the vote in another column. This doubtless settles the question for the Senate.

Some very interesting and novel features will be presented at the Carson Guard masquerade tomorrow evening. A lot of fine costumes arrived this morning and may be obtained at the Arlington House, where the costumer has his headquarters. This is to be the boss masquerade of the season.

A communication from the Parents and Teachers’ Association of Carson City, “Relative to the state library” asking that the same be kept open evenings, was read at the Senate.

Nevada’s Legislators have become venereal-disease-conscious during the past few days. With two bills pending, Sen. James Farndale, D, Clark, is studying ways and means to require instruction of Nevada high schools on the dangers of venereal disease.

Ormsby County commissioners will be able to complete their land trade with the Bureau of Land Management for a new dump site under a bill proposed by Assemblyman Archie Pozzi. The new dump is proposed for 60 acres in Brunswick Canyon.
