Firefighters responded to a fire at the north end of Shawnee Drive in the Jacks Valley neighborhood of Douglas County around 7 p.m.

The fire was knocked down, with 80 percent of the structure’s interior reported destroyed.

According to the assessor’s office, the home in the 3600 block of Shawnee is 1,440 square feet with a 350 square foot attached garage. Firefighters from East Fork, Carson City, Genoa, Gardnerville and Sunridge, among others, responded to the blaze.

Broadcast reports are no one was inside the home. Shawnee was being closed to traffic by Douglas County deputies so firefighters can work. Fire units were still on scene mopping up and conducting the investigation on Saturday night.
