Raymond (Ray) Pieretti passed away January 7, 2015 in his home in Carson City after a lengthy illness. Ray recently moved back to Carson City after living most of his adult life in Reno and Sparks. Ray was born to Eugenio, an Italian immigrant, and Natalina Pieretti on October 20th, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene, of Jack’s Valley. Ray is survived by brothers, Joe(Kay) and Jack of Carson City, Jerry (Deborah) of Washoe Valley, Dave(Sigrid) of Granite Bay, CA, his sister Loretta of Carson City, and brother-in-law Ken Fields of Dayton, as well as, many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Carson City, Reno, Sparks, Granite Bay, CA, Clovis, CA, and Santa Barbara, CA. Ray attended primary and secondary schools in Carson City and the University of Nevada, Reno. During and after college he worked in the banking industry and also consulted. Ray had a real passion for hunting and fishing and he particularly liked a rare Munsterlander breed of hunting dog which he drove non-stop from Reno to Madison, WI, to pick up. He and the Munsterlander entered many competitive chukar and pheasant shoots in the Northern Nevada area. Ray spent much of his time fishing Davis Lake, Frenchmanís, and Pyramid Lake in younger years. He also enjoyed fishing the Delta near Rio Vista for Striped Bass and Salmon. Ray was a member of the Nevada Air Guard and his unit was activated for a year during the Pueblo Incident involving North Korea. Ray also loved to cook and was member of the Sparks Sons of Italy and the Italian Benevolent Society. Over the years he helped cook Italian dishes for their community events as well as to socialize with family and friends. A Life Celebration for Ray will held at a later date.
