Nevada writers Ron and Susan James bring stories from their latest book “A Short History of Virginia City” to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City Thursday. The presentation will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Experts in the state’s heritage, the couple will share historic Nevada tales of mining and the Old West. Their book includes an illustrated walking tour describing more than 30 buildings and sites including the Comstock National Historic District, now designated a National Historic Landmark.

Early arrival is recommended as space is limited. The presentation is part of the Frances Humphrey lecture series held at the museum on the fourth Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, free for museum members and children 17 and younger. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 600 N. Carson St. Contact Deborah Stevenson dstevenson@nevadaculture.org or 775-687-4810, ext. 237.
